The bulul are figures used by the Ifugao and other Cordilleran groups to represent the ancestors and spirits. They are often used in ceremonies and rituals. Similar figures representing the ancestors and spirits were once used by other groups in the Philippines. Terms for these other figures were likha, larawan (Tagalog), tao-tao (Bisaya), ladaoan (Ilokano), ladawan, and tatawo (Bikolano).
These bulul figures are handcarved by artisans in Baguio, using chalakan wood. Because they are handmade and handcarved, no figure is 100% alike. They come in 3 sizes: 10 inch, 16 inch, and 24 inch. Please look at product title and measurments below to when confirming your size at purchase.
